Three Hares, Original Acrylic and gold foil canvas.

Earliest images of the Three Hares, and sometimes the Three Rabbits date back to China in the 6th 7th centuries, and then perhaps travelled into Europe through the silk trade routes. Being such a fabulously strong and eye catching image it's not hard to see how it became popular and spread into many different cultures and religions throughout. Examples in the UK consist of the Tinners Rabbits carvings in Devonshire churches, ceramic tiles in Chester Cathedral, and stained glass in Long Melford, Suffolk.

They are a symbol of peace and tranquility, birth and life eternal.

Most hares, or rabbits in this Triskelion have their ear joining the head of their neighbouring friend, I've not done this, as I like my hares to be free of each other, individual, full of their own energy, but at the same time, still part of the fun :)

The gold foil is lovely and warm, looks different at different times of the day. Subtle in the day light, strong and magical in the night.
